HED ltd directors Imogen and Paul recently completed the Loch Ness Etape - a 66 mile cycle round trip of the iconic loch starting and finishing in Inverness. Over 5,500 people took part on the day and whilst a little fresh at 6.00 in the morning it turned out to be a very bonnie day with plenty of sunshine.
With the A82 and Dores roads closed they were able to enjoy the scenery without having to negotiate traffic – even cycling on the right hand side of the road passed Drumnadrochit to Fort Augustus. The sting in the tail came just after Fort Augustus with the 5 mile climb passed Stronelairg and Glen Doe Hydro access route, to the top of the hill. The distant sound of the piper heralded the end of the main climb much to everyone’s relief. However, a sign beyond the top read ‘End of hills (sort of)’ and sure enough there were a series of smaller hills all adding up to over 4000 ft of ascent before the day was out. Imogen raised over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Research and would like to thank everyone who made a donation.
