Paul Young

Paul has a wide range of experience in managing and delivering projects for clients in the public and private sector over some 30+ years and now has a role as a trustee on the board of HEDltd EOT.

   

Imogen Young

Imogen Young BSc ACIEEM

Imogen is an experienced ecologist who has been working in the environmental field for over 30 years. Her career prior to joining HED Ltd in 2008 included professional roles as a Countryside Ranger, Field Studies and Outdoor Instructor and Chartered Science teacher. In these posts she has acquired a high degree of professionalism.

She is a very effective communicator and has the ability to get along with everyone in the team. Her teaching and environmental interpretation background has proved invaluable in this aspect. Imogen was one of the keynote speakers at the ICW (Institute of Collaborative Working ) at the Crystal in London in July 2017.

Since joining HED Ltd in 2008, Imogen has been a key team member of the company. She has headed up projects and ensured they have been delivered on time and in budget.

Imogen is a very able ecologist and has developed a range of specialist skills including Electrofishing, protected species surveys and provision of ECoW services. She is also a Schedule 1 Bird License holder.

Imogen is client focussed and ensures compliance with legislative constraints and industry good practice on sites.

Michael Pedder

Michael Pedder BSc 

Michael joined HED Ltd. in early 2021, previously working in an environmental consultancy for 9 years. In that time, he became familiar with survey methods, writing technical reports and working alongside clients to meet their specific needs throughout the Highlands. He has strong understanding of the aquaculture industry, marine environments, and terrestrial ecology.

 

He has worked as an EnvCow (Environmental Clerk of Works) on a number of development sites and undertaken protected species surveys for a range of clients.  He has delivered ecological and environmental toolbox talks to site personnel, local schools and given tutorials to industry professionals.

Michael is client focused and brings strong communication and problem solving skills to sites ensuring issues are identified and resolved to deliver projects successfully.

 

 

Mhairi Duncan

Mhairi Duncan BSc

Mhairi is an Ecologist and Environmental advisor, building on her experience surveying bats, badgers, breeding birds, hedgehogs, and great-crested newts for a variety of projects across Scotland.  

Alongside her love for surveying in the field, Mhairi enjoys engaging the public in conservation work and has been actively involved in public outreach projects including writing an article on keystone species for Biological Sciences Review magazine, aimed towards students of STEM subjects. Her outreach work also extends to delivering interactive presentations to visitors of Edinburgh Zoo and creating online videos for Glasgow Science Centre, raising awareness of native biodiversity and the threats they face.

As an Ecologist with HED ltd, Mhairi brings a friendly face to sites where she helps clients deliver their projects while meeting ecological and environmental standards.

Eilidh Milne

Eilidh Milne BSc MScR

Eilidh joined the team at HED ltd. as a Graduate Ecologist and Environmental Advisor in January 2023. She has an academic background in Geology and Earth Sciences, with a BSc and an MSc by Research from the University of Glasgow. During her Masters, Eilidh was involved in outreach projects with the Glasgow Science Festival and presented her research to both the Inverness Field Club and the Highland Geological Society. Her work is also published in the Journal of Scottish Geology.

Further, Eilidh has training in Ecological Surveying from the Scotland’s Rural College, and has spent time volunteering with organisations such as Trees for Life and the Bat Conservation Trust. She has professional experience working in planning and development for renewables, where she gained skills in technical report writing and GIS.

Eilidh is a keen climber and hillwalker, and by association loves working outdoors carrying out surveys. She is currently shadowing and undertaking training to work as an Environmental Clerk of Work, and looks forward to getting on-site in the near future. She brings a friendly face and an enthusiastic attitude to the team.

Vicki Rennie

Administrator

Vicki joined us in April 2022 having worked with a large local Inverness company. She brings a wealth of experience in organising people and resources which is invaluable in a busy consultancy environment.

 

Through her understanding of accounting systems Vicki keeps the company moving forward ensuring staff, our contractors and bills are paid on time: which we all appreciate. Vicki is at the heart of the team ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the business.
